The concept of business agility focuses on a more responsive and flexible
organisation. An agile organisation is better able to respond to changing
customer profiles and requirements. As a concept, it covers both processes
and people and enables an organisation to remain dynamic and adaptive in a
volatile environment. At this seminar we will explore the concept of
business agility and consider how information leaders and managers can learn
from and apply these principles to ensure that they continue to deliver
business critical services and products. Case studies from a range of
organisations will share ideas and lessons learned and will point to key
trends.

The City is described as the world's leading international financial and
business centre and the global powerhouse in financial services. It is

the institutions of the City and how they are set to change in the European
and global context. This course explains how the City has developed and what

and rationale of company law found in the UK and distinguishes the company

Market, sector and industry information evaluations, along with company
information, are the 2 key areas of business information and research. This

need a good understanding of markets information as a primer to provide the
background and structure for conducting their day to day information
projects. The markets covered will include the old economy industrial
products and services as well as consumer products and look at researching
the new economy sectors. The course will also particularly address the whole
area of structuring international internet business research into markets
alongside the more conventional desk research methods.

Thesauri for the electronic age
Speaker: Stella Dextre Clarke
Dates: 19/20 May, 13/14 Oct
The thesaurus is enjoying a revival now that the development of e-content
has exposed the limitations of full text searching. Even with today's most
sophisticated software, some types of retrieval pose problems that can be
addressed only by a controlled vocabulary. But is a thesaurus really the
right solution for your application? And if so, what kind of thesaurus would
be appropriate? This two day course addresses the fundamental questions of
whether and how to build a thesaurus, how to adapt it for specific needs and
how to plan the work that will be involved.
Fee: £650.00 + VAT (£763.75)

Influencing your stakeholders
Speaker: Elizabeth Lank
Date: 22 May, 17 Sep
As awareness of knowledge and information as strategic assets grows in many
organisations, information professionals are working with an ever wider
group of stakeholders. It is essential that senior information managers have
the skills necessary to influence these stakeholders. From making business
cases to senior management to teaching line managers to handle information
in new ways to encouraging colleagues to share information across
boundaries, communication and change management skills are becoming
increasingly important as core competencies.
This one day workshop offers a number of tools and techniques to help you
increase your ability to influence the stakeholders that matter to you. It
will give you the opportunity to explore the challenges of influencing
behaviour and culture within an organisation and help you develop your
skills as an effective communicator and a change agent.
