LIBRARIES
a new community focus for learning and regeneration
Austin Court, 80 Cambridge Street, Birmingham.
Libraries are changing.
Extending their range of services, forging new partnerships with other service providers, repositioning themselves at the heart of communities, linking with shops and cafes - individual authorities are being increasingly creative and proactive in developing new ideas for a relevant and empowering service, tailored to local needs.
Who should attend and why?
The conference is intended for heads of libraries in any sector, but with a special relevance for services that are concerned with education, or regeneration. We hope to offer a forum for ideas to be shared, and to engender a shared confidence in the future significance of libraries in the context of lifelong learning.
Speakers include:
Prof. Michael Thorne, Vice Chancellor of University of East London
Rt Hon Lord Jeff Rooker, Minister of State for Housing, Planning and Regeneration
Lord Rogers of the Richard Rogers Partnership
