Very little staffing impact - and only on myself and our
systems librarian - so far. This is mainly because we are
using the National Default Resolver at MIMAS, see:
http://www.mimas.ac.uk/metadata/ITAM/sfx.html
We will move to a hosted service from August and will
then have more idea of what is involved. I'm doing a
couple of presentations on OpenURL - one for Library staff
and another for University staff - but apart from that have
just used email to advertise the linking.

I think it is brilliant technology. I don't know how SFX
compares with other products. Not all of the links resolve
properly, but we hope to address that when we move to a
hosted instance in August.
In the UK, the majority of OpenURL users are with SFX -
probably because it was the first product available, and
also they are mainly Aleph customers (but we're not). Derby
is using 1Cate - the only instance in the UK as far as I
know; Edinburgh and Swansea are using LinkFinder plus (they
have the Endeavour library system). I'm aware of a couple
more products - Fretwell Downing OL2, and EBSCO Link
Source. They are not currently in use in the UK.
UKOLN have an OpenURL demonstrator at:
http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/distributed-systems/openurl/
which might also be of interest.
I hope that you will send the results of your survey to
this list.
Regards,
Linda
