<snip>I was at the meeting last Monday in London and I was advised that it was
better to put off applying for chartership. I am planning to register for route
B and it was recommended to me to wait more than the two years prescribed before
submitting as it was inadvisable to base my judgements on professional
development on my first professional placement. <snip> On the subject of
knowledge of developments in the UK library sector, I also think this is a
difficult requirement. I work in an environment, which focuses on developments
in the international library sector. I am aware of some UK based issues, but
generally they are not of great concern in my job.
Perhaps these 2 things are linked? You were advised to wait and gain wider
experience before Chartering BECAUSE your job is too specialised?
