I am still having problems installing LCG on our one old VALinux node
with the buggy SCSI controller/motherboard. This is the system that we
normally have to set the apic option when booting the RedHat kickstart
install kernel. I tried to disable SCSI in the BIOS and installed an
IDE disk, but when the kernel boots it still tries to probe the SCSI
controller with the same errors. Is SCSI compiled into the kernel on
the boot floppy?
I am not sure what to do now since we don't have a lot of extra computer
hardware here. I can either try to get this installed on the VA system
with IDE, or try to use an old gateway desktop single CPU computer. How
easy would it be to create an install floppy with apic enabled and/or
SCSI disabled? Should I just give up trying to install on this node and
find another computer to use?
