Dear colleagues,
The JISC's Technical Advisory Service for Images (TASI) continues its
popular workshop programme, offering the following courses during November.
Please note that these are all being held in Bristol.
IMAGE CAPTURE - Beginners - Thursday 20th November
IMAGE CAPTURE - Intermediate - Friday 21st November
The first two workshops in our digital imaging series, which can be taken
separately or together. The Beginners course provides an introduction and
overview of digital imaging and practical exercises using a scanner and
digital camera. The Intermediate course is for those who have done the
Beginners' course or have some experience of image capture. It introduces
more advanced scanning and image optimisation techniques as well as monitor
calibration.
IMAGE MANAGEMENT - Storing and Finding Your digital Images - Thursday 27th
November
An introduction to Image Management Systems (IMS), with a range of
practical exercises to illustrate the underlying concepts. We begin with an
overview of databases and integrating a metadata framework with your IMS,
address issues surrounding digital preservation and data migration, and
round off the day reviewing the features to look for when choosing a IMS
for your project. This workshop is ideal if you need to organise your
digital images, but aren't sure where to begin.
