HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Feb. 5, 2003 - Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions
has donated 400 copies of GeoMedia* Professional software to UNIGIS in
support of the programme's geographic information system (GIS) distance
learning curriculum. In a related move, Intergraph and UNIGIS have
undertaken to develop teaching materials based on Intergraph technology.
UNIGIS is an international consortium of distance learning that is comprised
of universities with a standard GIS curriculum.
GeoMedia Professional is being integrated into postgraduate certificate,
diploma, and master coursework for applying GIS principles and methodology.
The software allows students to explore the modern concepts of
interoperability through the product's ability to establish live links with
spatial databases, open interoperability formats and interfaces, CAD and
proprietary datasets from other GIS vendors.
The software donation is part of Intergraph's global programme of
collaboration with academia. Other higher education opportunities include
the Team GeoMedia Registered Research Laboratory Program, GeoMedia Research
Grant Program, and GeoMedia International Internship Program. For more
