39th Meeting of Teachers of Surveying
University of Nottingham
16th – 17th December 2003
This year the annual meeting of Teachers of Surveying is to be hosted by
the Institute of Engineering Surveying and Space Geodesy at the University
of Nottingham. The programme has yet to be finalised, but it is expected
the main emphasis of this meeting will be to highlight new advances and
technologies, notably Laser Scanners, GPS and Galileo, novel teaching
techniques (both for formal and practical teaching) and web based teaching
facilities. Suggestions for topics and offers of presentations are always
welcome.
The meetings aim to bring those teaching surveying or geomatics, at all
levels and in all disciplines, together to update their knowledge and to
discuss current issues. It is an ideal forum to share your experiences and
to discover how others solve the problems and issues that teachers of
surveying experience. It has proved especially useful to those who teach
surveying as part of another discipline, often in isolation, for example
Civil Engineering, Built Environment or Geography. The meetings are
usually attended by staff from FE and HE colleges who teach on specialised
surveying, mapping, GIS and geomatics courses as well as those teaching as
part of Engineering and other courses with a surveying or GIS element. Most
of those attending are from colleges in the UK but we welcome
representatives from overseas institutions. Recently, colleges in Finland,
New Zealand, Hong Kong, Germany and Ireland have been represented.
You are invited to come along and share you experiences, thoughts and
problems. For further information on this years meeting contact:
