dear all
recent enquiry...
specimen bought by enquirer from Lyme Regis Fossil Shop
thought to be a sub-fossil elephant pelvis dredged from the North Sea
enquirer would like to know if the beast can be narrowed down from
'elephant'
could it be Palaeoloxodon / mammoth / mastodon?
I presume that it came from the Dogger Bank area?
if so what sort of age could I give it in response to enquiry?
again presumably Pleistocene - but what are most 'up-to-date' dates?
piccies attached
any help would be greatly appreciated - helen
