UNU/INCORE International Summer School 9-14 June 2003, Northern Ireland
Currently in its fourth year, the International Summer School provides an
intensive week of training, networking, learning and discussion in the field
of conflict resolution. Facilitated by leading experts, the International
Summer School is aimed at mid to senior level policy makers, practitioners,
academics, members of the media, military and religious organisations. Three
simultaneously run courses are on offer for June 2003:
1. Evaluation and Impact Assessment of Peacebuilding Projects This course
aims to introduce participants to conflict resolution project evaluation
(CRE). It offers an overview of areas including managing/commission,
implementation, key theoretical frameworks, risk assessment, field relevance
& approach and use of findings.
2. Second Track Diplomacy and Conflict Transformation An overview of various
types of Track Two peacebuilding initiatives and a framework for how these
approaches can be effectively linked to foster long-term transformation from
violent conflict to sustainable peace.
3. Managing Peace Processes - This course focuses on what policy makers and
practitioners are learning about the management of peace processes that
enables them to deliver a durable settlement.

UNU/INCORE is a joint research institute of the United Nations University at
