Post 1
JISC Programme Manager Ref: E3/QJ/22/03
We are currently seeking to recruit a Programme Manager for
the JISC Development Group to have oversight of a
Digitisation Programme funded with money from the second
Comprehensive Spending Review. #10,000,000 is available to
enhance the core resource of digitised material available
to UK higher education. This programme is currently
scheduled to run from 2003 until 31 July 2005 and will be
followed by a managed close-down phase. The postholder will
also support related portions of digital
preservation programmes, which also run until 31 July 2005.
This post requires a mixture of skills: a sound
understanding of managing large digitisation projects or
programmes; knowledge of relevant standards and issues
relating to the long-term sustainability of digital
content; very strong influencing and interpersonal skills;
and an understanding of the needs of the
academic community. The successful applicant will join a
small team and will be required to manage a
variety of projects. In particular to support them in
complying with relevant standards and technologies
and ensuring that results are delivered effectively to
benefit the higher education community.

JISC Programme Manager Ref: E3/QJ/23/03
We are currently seeking to recruit a Programme Manager for
the JISC Development Group to oversee a programme on
semantic grids and autonomic computing. This programme will
be funded in conjunction with the Engineering and Physical
Science Research Council (EPSRC), and projects will be
overseen by a joint JISC/EPSRC Steering Group. The
postholder will be responsible for projects funded by the
JISC, and will need to ensure that work is aligned with
EPSRC-funded projects and the wider aspects of JISC's
work in developing an Information Environment relevant to
all research disciplines. These programmes are currently
scheduled to run until February 2006 and will be followed
by a managed close-down phase.
The post requires an enthusiastic, motivated individual
with relevant skills and interests, and preferably a
postgraduate qualification in computing science or a
related discipline.
