I, in my capacity as g77 maintainer, have been harassed by users about
32-bit limitations in the compiler and the run-time library basically
since mid-2000.
By summer 2001 I was in full swing solving such limitations in both the
compiler and the run-time library.
Just a couple of months ago, I got a bug report that basically said: We
want to write > 2 Gbyte *records* in a direct access file and g77
doesn't support that.
The hard part of these bug reports is not to fix them, but to test the
fixes.
