We had this same problem, and the network manager set the ports up and got
round it, so it now works fine across the internal network and externally.
However, as I posted on here once before, we do still have problems
accessing Blackboard through the proxy server. We have a time out problem
when uploading files to the system that will allow us to load one or two
files and then no more. It will still allow us to change any course details,
but not to upload to the system (v.5). If anyone can give us a pointer with
that, I'd be most grateful.

Gary,
The port numbers can be found on the page that launches the chatroom. i
believe the http port is 8081 and the tcp port is 7755.

We have been waiting months for Bb to come up with an answer to this issue.
The VC has never worked through our firewall and they still haven't been
able to supply us with port numbers or any other information that we can use
to try to open up the firewall to accommodate the VC.
I'd be very interested to find out whether anyone else has resolved this
issue as we now have several members of staff wishing to use the VC this
coming semester.
Best wishes,
Stan
