Resent due to problems with appearance of text on previous notice



Dear Colleagues


In response to research which showed that students found use of the term
student support confusing, carrying connotations of welfare and other
non-financial support there will be a name change from studentsupportdirect
to studentfinancedirect.


The research also gave a clear indication that the term student finance was
overwhelmingly favoured and understood by students.


The timing of the change has been guided by the Student Loans Company
having a window of opportunity in their Student Finance Modernisation
Programme workplans.  Additionally, undertaking the change sooner rather
than later allows for the change to be embedded in the future rollout
activity.  Clearly our thinking in all this is to minimise the impact on
our customers and key partners and to ensure that such a change does not
detract from other key planned activities.


DETAILS


The name change will take place over the next few days with a view to being
complete, from the customers perspective, by Monday 3rd November 2003.


Outgoing Correspondence is being rebranded at the same time. The new
release on the portals will trigger newly branded correspondence and the
brand change is due to be released on Thursday 30th October. New
letterheads are in the process of being produced.


The IVR messages on the Customer Support Office lines are also due to be
changed through a release on the 30th October and will be answered Student
Finance Direct thereafter.


ASSOCIATED WORK

We are also putting in hand a programme of work to identify other areas
where changes need to be made to ensure continuity in the use of student
finance. For example, Colleagues will notice that the November issue of
Update will be renamed Student Finance Update. We will, of course, keep you
informed of further changes which may impact on you.
