Invitation
The Performing Arts Data Service (PADS) is holding a one-day workshop at the
University of Glasgow, on Wednesday 25th June. The workshop will address the
documentation of digital resources, with particular focus on the needs of
Arts and Humanities researchers and data creators in the HE sector.
Documentation is becoming increasingly important in the digital world, not
just to aid resource discovery, but also to ensure the long term viability
of digital materials in a constantly changing environment. This workshop
will cover the use of different kinds of metadata, and why such
documentation is so important for the successful completion of any
digitisation project. Special emphasis will be given to the lessons that can
be learned from interdisciplinary research, and the challenges involved in
recording information about temporal events.
Who should come?
This event will be of interest to all researchers involved in the creation,
dissemination and use of high quality digital research resources in the Arts
and Humanities. The workshop will be of special interest to those who are
preparing an application for one of the funding schemes organised by the
Arts and Humanities Research Board or the Joint Information Systems
Committee.
