I'm not sure that list members will have come across the following course, as I don't remember seeing it advertised on ARCHIVES-NRA. It looks as though it should be of interest to many of us. A draft programme is available at the website link below.

Subject: ARCHIVES, LEARNING & SOCIAL INCLUSION ONE-DAY COURSE
**** APOLOGIES FOR CROSS-POSTING ****
Bookings are now being taken for the following seminar:
ARCHIVES, LEARNING AND SOCIAL INCLUSION
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4th, 09.30-16.30
York St. John College, Lord Mayors Walk, YORK
Stakeholders in the provision of education and information have been 'challenged' by central government to work collaboratively in support of agendas promoting access, social inclusion, e-learning and life long learning. Local archive and local history services offer a wealth of actual and potential opportunities to explore these issues cross-sectorially.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
The course content assumes a professional interest from an education, both teachers and library staff, archive, public library or museum perspective.
OUTCOMES
By the end of the day, participants will have considered:
- Actual and potential links between education and local history
- Strategies for involving excluded sectors of the community
- Practical ways of developing local educational resources
PRICE £150 + VAT
LEADER
The course will be presented on behalf of CSP by Jon Newman, Archives and Library Manager for the London Borough of Lambeth. Jon has significant project management experience of digitisation and education projects and has recently published Windrush Forbears, Black People in Lambeth, 1700 - 1900, the first stage of a local black history education project.
