MLA West Midlands is a regional agency which supports museums, libraries and
archives in providing services which excite, inspire and inform all parts of
the community.  We are now seeking four individuals to join our exciting new
organisation and contribute to MLA West Midlands development and success.

Knowledge Development Manager  (Ref: KDM)
Scale PO3 - 4 £27,420 - £32,127

We are seeking an experienced and energetic professional to join our
management team and contribute to the development and success of MLA West
Midlands.

You will lead on the development of appropriate information and ICT
strategies.  You will manage the Knowledge Development Team in the
improvement of the quality and quantity of information on and for the
sector.  You will support their work with stakeholders to improve the
development of collections, regional intelligence and use of ICT. Up to 20%
of your time will be spent on championing Archives. As part of the
management team, you will be responsible for policy direction and strategic
planning, working in partnership with appropriate agencies and stakeholders
in the West Midlands.

You will be a dynamic individual and will have management experience,
project management and advocacy skills gained by working in either museums,
libraries or archives, or experience in strategic working at regional or
national level in an associated field. A demonstrable interest in our sector
is essential and experience of working with Archives services is desirable.

Particularly focussing on diversity issues, audience development and social
inclusion you will identify gaps in access and learning services and
identify the partners and tools necessary to meet public needs.  You will
raise the profile of the sector and participate in project management.

Within the Access and Learning Team you will concentrate on managing our
work on learning projects with Higher Education, the Museums Hub and
implementing the Inspiring Learning for All framework.

The collections held by museums, libraries and archives are an important
regional resource. They must be preserved so that full access can be had by
all.  You will monitor all types of standards in institutions in the region
and be actively involved in raising them.
