The Archives Network Wales website
(www.archivesnetworkwales.info) has gone live with its first
data: 298 records covering the Family and Estates collections
held by record offices in Wales (created as part of an
NLW/HMC project), and parts of the holdings of the National
Library of Wales and University of Wales Aberystwyth, Bangor,
Lampeter and Swansea.
A further 800 records have been created for NLW and
Anglesey Record Office, and will be released as they complete
the validation procedure. In the meantime, the team has started
work on Carmarthenshire Archives Service's collections.
The website was launched on 4th September by Alun Pugh,
Assembly Minister for Culture, the Welsh Language and Sport
(see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/mid/3080294.stm); it
features full search and browse options, including browsable
indexes to personal, corporate and place-names. Subject
indexing will be added later. The website also has information
on the project, and links to other web archive resources and
project partners.
Feedback on the website design, functionality and data content
would be welcomed.
