Black History Month Events in London -
www.londonlibraries.org.uk/blackhistory
On behalf of London's Museums Archives and Libraries (LMAL) I have designed
a new website to promote Black History Month events, exhibitions,
celebrations and projects taking place throughout the capital this October.
Visit the site at www.londonlibraries.org.uk/blackhistory to find out about
hundreds of activities and cultural initiatives - including Black history
talks, seminars, displays, exhibitions, music and drama performances,
book/poetry readings, educational workshops and oral history projects, etc.
- in venues all over London.
The website at www.londonlibraries.org.uk/blackhistory has a searchable
database that enables you to retrieve listings of events via a keyword
search, choice of venue or event type, a specific London borough or
locality, or by selecting a date from the online calendar.
LMAL are grateful to all the archive services, libraries, museums,
galleries, arts centres, theatres and community organisations that have
contributed their event programmes to the online listing and hope that the
website will be useful to everyone wishing to learn more about the history
and cultural heritage of Britain's Black, Asian and other minority ethnic
communities.
For further details please visit www.londonlibraries.org.uk/blackhistory, or
contact: Carol Dixon, Learning and Access Officer, London's Museums,
Archives and Libraries, c/o London Libraries Development Agency, 35 St
Martin's Street, London WC2H 7HP; Fax: 020 7641 5266; Email:
[log in to unmask]
(NB: If you are London-based, and responsible for web page maintenance
within your archive service, please feel free to create a temporary
hyperlink (until 31/10/03) to www.londonlibraries.org.uk/blackhistory from
your website, to maximise publicity for these events in the run up to Black
History Month).
