There is a vacancy in the Archives, located in the Museum's Library and
Information Services, suitable for a graduate hoping to gain experience
before starting on the archive-training course. However, recently qualified
archivists wishing to gain further experience by working within a
specialist repository environment would also be considered for this post.
This is a temporary post for 2 months with a proposed start date of Monday
28 July until Friday 19 September.
Reporting to the Archives and Records Manager, Susan Snell, this post
offers an opportunity to gain experience in some aspects of archive
administration, including enquiry work, sorting and listing archive
materials, but will primarily involve helping with the annual review
process for our records management function. A working knowledge of WORD
software and previous use of a database would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and conscientious person,
able to work effectively on his or her own initiative but also as part of a
small team, and have excellent communication skills.
This appointment is offered on a temporary contract basis for 8 weeks and
offers a salary equivalent to £15,181 p.a. pro rata (Scale 6 equivalent).
