MIMAS e-Government Interoperability Framework [eGIF] Seminar

MIMAS will be holding a half day seminar called 'Introducing the
requirements of eGIF' 1:30-5:00pm Wednesday 10th December 2003 in
Federal Theatre 2, Crawford House (next to Manchester Computing), Oxford
Road, The University of Manchester
(http://www.man.ac.uk/about/maps.html).

main thrust of the e-Government Interoperability Framework [eGIF] is
adopting Internet and World Wide Web standards for all government
systems. This approach is designed to be pragmatic and aims to reduce
the costs and risk of operating information technology systems while
keeping the public sector in step with the global internet revolution."
This seminar aims to take a high level overview of what the eGIF
standards mean for government organizations.
The seminar will cover three general areas:

- The benefits of eGIF
- The technologies of eGIF
2. XML - The Core of eGIF
- Introduction to XML
- Using XML technology
3. Implementing systems using XML technology
- Overview of related XML technologies
- Integrating XML Schema
- Integrating XSLT
- Integrating Web services
- Integrating legacy applications
