EDINBURGH CLINICAL TRIAL MANAGEMENT COURSE
(ECTMC) 2004
25th February - 27th February 2004
This three-day course focuses on how to manage randomised controlled
trials (RCTs), but also covers some aspects of trial design. It is
designed for people who are: a) working as a trial manager or
coordinator; b) have already taken part in controlled trials and now
wish to run their own trial (or just broaden their knowledge); c) who
have no trials experience as yet, but intend to play a part in
running randomised controlled trials in the future.
The knowledge gained is often relevant to people working on other
types of research design (cohort studies, surveys, etc). The course
is recognised by the UK Medical Research Council.
The course is a mixture of lectures and small group workshops. Its
practical approach takes participants step by step through all stages
of undertaking a well-run trial. The course will include topics such
as:
* The rationale for doing RCTs
* Starting up a trial
* Regulatory requirements
* Involving consumers
* Designing trial materials that work
* Methods of randomisation
* Maximising recruitment
* Managing data effectively
* Managing a realistic trial budget
Fees: The course fee is £475 per delegate. This includes lunches,
refreshments, an evening reception and the course dinner. For further
