Synopsis - This special meeting will examine the processes involved in the
safety of medicines as they apply to vaccines and how the statistical
issues are dealt with. The epidemiological evidence will be set out as
well as work on the self-controlled case series method.
One aim of the meeting is to bring the audience up to speed with the latest
position on experimental and epidemiological evidence. The discussion also
gives the opportunity to look at what has been learned (or should have
been) about the way in which the statistical issues in this kind of area
should be handled, and also the communications aspects. In the latter area
the question may be how to get messages across about causation, association
and risk to the general public and to the media.
There will be a buffet supper after the meeting for which there is a charge
of GBP14.00. Please advise Jonelle Lewis Chamberlain on 020 7614 3910
(email
