Your attention is drawn to two seminars organised jointly by the
Cabinet Office and the ESRC Research Methods Programme.
29 October 2003 - University of Oxford
Design and early implementation of the “Employment
Retention and Advancement” RCT Project
This is a demonstration project to test new policies to help those on
the margins of the labour market retain work and advance in
employment. It comprises a limited test of a new programme or policy
that is subject to a multi-method evaluation, the centrepiece of which
is an impact assessment conducted through random asignment (social
experimentation).
Based on the report "Designing a Demonstration Project - An
Employment, Retention and Advancement Demonstration for Great
Britain"
12 November 2003 - University of Surrey
The use of Propensity Score Matching in evaluating the
Education Maintenance Allowance
This is a statistical evaluation design using a longitudinal cohort study
involving large random sample surveys of young people (and their
parents) in 10 EMA pilot areas and eleven control areas.
The presentation will be based on two reports published by the
Dfee/DfES.
Further information on both these seminars, including links to the
reports, programmes and booking forms is available from the
Research Methods website: http://www.ccsr.ac.uk/methods/events/.
