Dear All
We are looking at the vexed question of examination invigilation and in
particular the use of non-academic staff as invigilators. A number of
universities employ casual labour on an hourly / daily rate as substitute
invigilators during examination periods. We are trying to get a feel for
how widespread this approach is and I would be grateful if you would be
prepared to answer a few simple questions.
Does your University employ non-academic invigilators?
If yes, as a complete substitute for academic staff or as a supplement to
them?
What rates of pay do you make for these casual staff?
Those who do use non-academic staff, have you found the change beneficial?
I would be grateful, if you are prepared to respond to this query, if you
would do so by the end of January. I will be happy to share the results of
the survey with anyone interested in seeing them.
Many thanks
Hywel
