Dear All
At Queen Mary, if a student takes modules at an overseas institution, we attempt to
equate the results obtained in those modules with what s/he should have taken at Queen
Mary.
For example, we expect students to take eight units per year. If a student studies abroad
for the entire year we would try to show on the student's record eight equivalent units
with marks expressed as percentages. This is quite easy to do as long as we know the
relative values of the courses at the home institution and the marks obtained.
However, we have experienced great difficulty in trying to translate the marks obtained
under the European Credit Transfer Scheme since the courses seem to range in value
from 2 to 10 credits. It is also difficult to translate the actual marks into a percentage
mark.
Has anyone else experienced these problems? How have you managed to get round
them?
Many thanks for your help.
Regards
Andy
