Hi Helen,
At Salford we issue draft timetables to our Examination Liaison Officers based in schools in electronic format. Our undergrads and postgrads are arranged at the same time for Semester 1, Semester 2 or September Resits. Usual problems are missed exams, papers lengths scheduled are incorrect, venues may need to be adjusted where particular papers need to be held in the same venue due to common content/originator and occasionally exams scheduled are no longer required.
Our biggest problem is when we issue final 'confirmed' timetables those are 'supposed' to be set in stone. It is not uncommon for the above problems to continue arising. I prefer as few changes as possible. Where unavoidable, at that point the onus is on schools to get hold of students to let them have amended details.
Debbie.

Subject: Examination timetable
Dear All,
I would appreciate some feedback on whether other institutions publish a
provisional or draft examination timetable, before releasing the final
version. And what problems are encountered, if any?
I currently work at an institution that has one main undergraduate series
at the end of the year, a reassessment series in August and a Postgraduate
only series at Easter.
Many thanks
Helen Roberts
