Dear Colleagues
Can anyone help with this request? Please send replies to

anyone
is interested.
At Northumbria University we are developing procedures to facilitate the
anonymous marking of coursework in appropriate circumstances. We have
developed a form which will do everything we need, including permitting
second marking to be either blind (no knowledge of first marker's mark)
or
clean (no sight of first marker's comments). Costs work out at ca 13p
-20p
per copy depending on size of print run. The form has been piloted and
is
acceptable to those whose second marking is to be either clean or blind
or
both.
We would however like to make a simpler version of the same form, in
part to
save costs but also to make it more acceptable to those who do not need
all
of its features. Our basic specification would be met by a process
which
produced out of a multipart form:
§ A receipt for the student (identifying the assignment and the
student)
§ A receipt for the office (carbon type copy of the above)
§ Two sheets (one a copy of the other) on which comments and a mark
will be written. These sheets both need to contain the impression/copy
of
the students name, but that name should be concealed until after the
marking
process is complete. (We would not be satisfied if the work remains
identified only by registration number )
Anybody who has tried to do this will probably recognise the problems.
They
mainly relate to the two copies that need to be temporarily anonymous.
Our
best solution at the moment is to wrap these sheets in a carbonised bag
and
do the marking on the outside of the bag while the name remains on the
sheets inside the bag. (This is in essence how our 'all-singing' form
works.)
There might be a more elegant 'eureka' solution out there. If anybody
has
thought of one and would be willing to share it with us we would be
delighted. We are aware that a solution may lie not in the form but in
broader processes.
If anybody would like to see our version of the complex form we would be
very willing to share it.
Thanks
Jessica
