One of our most demanding areas is the area of unauthorised, unreported
results which appear on Telepath for all the world to see (well, the wards
and GPs anyway), but which later need amending. We had a case recently where
a paracetamol result of 12 ug/ml was later (10-15 minutes later) corrected
to <10 ug/ml following a water blank, but not before the result had been
seen by the team looking after the patient. It all turned out okay but we
now make the point of saying, when the opportunity arises, that we reserve
the right to amend unauthorised results.
Any other comments on this area?
