We are mugs and the DOH knows it.
We continue to so extra work for nothing.
Can you imagine 30 surgical and anaesthetic depts being taken to london and
told to reduce all waiting lists by FINDING NEW WAYS TO DO THINGS?
NO.
They get paid to do it by WLI money.
We need to get tough and learn to say no, enough is enough.
No planned evening/weekend sessions unless properly recompensed.
No head injuries unless resourced up front.
etc.
The only people dafter than us are paediatricians.
Have a happy Christmas and remember we need to stick together or our time on
earth or at least remaining happy, sane and usful doctors will be numbered!

But some people won't be lucky and will have them fobbed off on them.
Unfortunately as I am beginning rapidly to learn with no and I repeat no
extra resources. You wait until the collaberative people get started. I
see them champing at the bit. The Govt will announce a 3million pound award
for the management of head injuries. Not a penny will go to patient care.
Only project managers and data collectors. Not a single paramedic, nurse or
doctor will be appointed. With great flourish we will be told that patient
care will actually improve. We've got one is our place producing the pie
charts but I had better shut up.
What really pisses me off is that our leading doyens in the speciality
signed us up to this and they have now buggered off to retirement. It is us
poor old sods who are going to be picking this up for the next 20 years.
Merit wards and Dp's spring to mind but I am being unkind it is period of
good will to all.
