Special themed issue of Library and Information Research News on LIS
evaluation (Winter 2003)
I am writing in my capacity as a member of the editorial board of the
journal Library and Information Research News. I am hoping to guest edit
the winter 2003 issue on the theme of evaluation of library and information
services. The aim is essentially to review comparative evaluation data
within sectors and perhaps across them. Although survey and evaluation of
specific library and information services is well established there is a
lack of widely available comparative/benchmarking studies and the issue
will
aim to create comparative satisfaction etc. perspectives which are not
available from such sources as SCONUL statistics. The issue will not, of
course, be restricted to academic libraries and contributions from the
public and special library sectors will be very welcome. Observations on
changing attitudes to service provision as identified through survey work
will also be welcome.
I would be pleased to hear from anyone who would like to contribute or
who
would like to recommend someone else (with the person's permission, of
course). Three or four papers are required and the deadline for
contributions is October 30th 2003.
Best wishes
