I graduated last year from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle in the
UK with First Class honours in BA (Joint Hons) degree in Disability Studies
and Childhood Studies.
I arrived in Australia in January with a 1 year working holiday visa as an
overseas visitor from the UK. Since my work visa is due to expire in January
'03, I am currently seeking employment in the Disability Community here in
Melbourne, with a view to finding a company or organisation to sponsor me to
work here.
Despite numerous encouraging and supportive emails, I am yet to find
employment in the field and wondered if the Disability Research Network
could help.
I am a passionate advocate of disabled people's rights from the perspective
of the social model of disability and believe I have much to offer the
community should I be given the opportunity. My particular area of interest
lies in moves towards "inclusive" education.
I would appreciate any suggestions re: both job opportunities in Australia
and the UK.
With many thanks for your consideration.
