Bulletin Analytique d'Histoire Romaine
UMR 7044 (CNRS-Université Marc Bloch)
22, rue Descartes
F-67084 STRASBOURG
Dr. Doris Meyer

Dear Colleagues,

For over three decades, the Bulletin Analytique d'Histoire Romaine (BAHR) has been published by a research team at Strasbourg's Université Marc Bloch, with the support of the CNRS. As is not the case with most other bibliographies of ancient world studies, the indexing of articles from around a thousand specialist journals (in history and archaeology) has consistently been carried out by the research team on the basis of a systematic and detailed set of keywords. Founded by E. Frézouls in 1962, BAHR began by publishing analytical digests once a year. Since 1990, on an initiative of J.-M. David, it has also become a database accessible at http://argentoratum.u-strasbg.fr, and, from now on, at http://misha1.u-strasbg.fr.

Just as for other similar enterprises, the question now arises for BAHR of knowing whether the current form of publication - an annual printed volume complemented by free internet access - answers its users' needs satisfactorily. Everything suggests that its web presence will increase in the years to come. It is for this reason that we envisage, specifically, both the creation of a multilingual thesaurus, and more frequent updating of the database.

We hope that the decisions to be taken will correspond as closely as possible with your needs. In order to ensure this, we invite your co-operation, and ask you to be so kind as to fill out the attached questionnaire and to return it to us by letter, fax or e-mail.

We are at your disposal for any additional information you may require (tel. 03.88.41.74.56; fax. 03.88.60.16.31; e-mail [log in to unmask], [log in to unmask]). On behalf of the current editorial management, provided by Mme. A.-M. Adam, and of the editorial team, thank you for your support.

In anticipation of your response, please accept my best wishes.

Yours faithfully,

Doris Meyer
