All-Party Parliamentary Archaeology Group Public Meeting
APPAG would like to invite you to attend a public meeting to discuss the state of archaeology in Britain.
date: Saturday, December 7 2002
time: 10am until 2pm
place: The Society of Antiquaries, Piccadilly, London
Admission is free but spaces are limited. Tickets will be issued on a first come, first served basis. Please request your ticket by email from Lisa Elliott at [log in to unmask], who will send you an electronic ticket.
The meeting will be an opportunity to have your say before APPAG finalises its report. The group has compiled responses from all sectors of the archaeological community and is currently drafting a comprehensive report for parliament on the issues affecting archaeologists.
10am Welcome and Introduction
10.15am Summary of the issues raised by submissions and evidence taken.

10.45am Discussion of issues. Among these will be: SMRs, PPGs, illicit trade in antiquities, portable antiquities scheme, pay and conditions, the role of the amateur/volunteer, role of government, education and conservation.
- discussion will be led by Roger Bland (British Museum), Dai Morgan Evans (Society of Antiquaries) and other guest speakers.
12.30pm Discussion on implementation of recommendations and raising the profile and importance of archaeology.
