Danny, are you on drugs?
I thought you were being sarcastic at first.
(1) Massive numbers of unfilled posts in the UK
(2) next election will be won or lost on state of education and NHS.
(3) doctors have the option of resigning from NHS and switching to private
services (eg: chambers and private GP surgeries)
(4) NHS cannot function without doctors
(5) importing non-english speaking eurodocs is not easy due to language and
cultural barriers
(6) massive exodus of English speaking docs (British, Antipodeans, South
African) to North America where there are serious shortages of doctors.
(7) large number of GP's moving to locum work rather than principal work
means huge number of GP vacancies as well
The medical profession holds all the cards in this game - but like the
institutionalised saps that we are we don't know how to leave our prison
even though the guards are dying and the doors unlocked.
It's time doctors in this country stopped their incessant, ineffectual
moaning and stood up for themselves.
The 'no' vote from consultants was an important first step - well done.
