medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I'm hoping someone might help me with some historical detective work. I
am trying to find out whether a Dominican whom I know only as Thomas of
Bourges was from the Dominican House in Paris (St. Jacques). A late
nineteenth century historian tells me that he was the confessor of the
(in)famous Mahaut of Artois (who locked horns with Philip the Fair), at
least in the latter years of her life (she d. 1329). It would solve a
historical problem very neatly if he were, in fact, associated with the
Paris House, but I am not certain how to go about ascertaining this. Can
anyone help? Many thanks in advance.
