**Programme Manager (technology development projects)**

**Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC)**

The JISC works on behalf of the further and higher
education communities in the UK with the aim of stimulating
the innovative use of information technology to improve
learning, teaching and research.

We are currently seeking to recruit a Programme Manager for
the JISC Development Group to have oversight of three areas
of work dedicated to building a challenging on-line
information environment for learners and researchers in
higher and further education. This work is driven by the
need to support enhanced access through networked
environments to learning and research materials The
programmes are: FAIR (Focus on Access to Institutional
Resources) looking at techniques to share metadata using
emerging technologies; Shared Services (looking at
developing sustainable middleware or infrastructure
services); and Service Provider development (looking at how
distributed online content providers can work together to
give common access to educational  resources). (For further

This post requires a mixture of skills: a sound
understanding of web, digital library, and resource
description technologies; very strong influencing and
interpersonal skills; and an understanding of the needs of
the academic community. The successful applicant will join
a small team and will be required to manage a variety of
projects.  In particular to support them in complying with
relevant standards and technologies and ensuring that
results are delivered effectively to benefit the higher and
further education communities.

The position is fixed-term for three years.

Appointment will be within the ALC 3 grade: £27,545 to
£32,537 per annum, plus £2,134 London Allowance per annum.
