I suspect that U Ottawa uses AVG either to protect an Exchange server or to push virus-protection software out to each PC workstation at the university. Perhaps both; the last place I consulted at used InterScan VirusWall to protect its sendmail server *and* Norton anti-virus to protect all PCs.
