OCR Colleagues will doubtlessly have picked up the change to Further
Marketing syllabus from June 2003:
"Quantitative understanding of sampling; use of normal distribution.
Calculation of standard deviation."
So a BIG thank you to Duncan whose notes on standard deviation and normal
distribution are welcome background reading to those of us teaching OCR
Further Marketing and lacking in statistical confidence.
A 5* resource

Dear All,
I am pleased to advise you to trip over to www.duncanwil.co.uk to hunt
out two new pages:
Standard deviations
Normal distributions
A step by step account of these two topics, written especially with A
level/early undergraduates in mind. Lots of examples and exercises to
do, lots of pictures to look at, all the formulae spelled out in full.
These two pages are graphics heavy and will take a little time to load
unless you have broadband so be patient, please!
If you are interested in my reviews, I have just reviewed Roy Keane's
autobiography (he's a footballer in case you hadn't heard!) and the film
Topsy-Turvy, a bit about the life and times of Gilbert & Sullivan.
My first updates for about a month but well worth the wait!
Duncan Williamson
