If people who simply use computers, rather than understand them, are to feel
comfortable reporting things that might upset other people then it is
important that they should not be made to feel uncomfortable reporting what
they see as possible problems. Maybe the viruses do us a favour in reminding
us that you should not entrust anything to a computer that you are not quite
happy to see lost in the blink of an eye. Patient records for example. Am I
alone in getting fed up with the emphasis on how computers work that seem to
infest this list?

Here we go again!

Hint: if a file is so easy to find using the instructions you have given (by
name) it is probably fairly easy for a virus checker to find it!
It is appreciated that you were worried enough to circulate the warning, I am
sure this was done in good faith. However, it is always worth checking with
one of the online virus definition databases (such as that at Symantec) before
circulating them to such a large number of people.

Subject: VIRUS WARNING
I got this note in from Mike Whitby.
The Virus got into my machine so there is a possibility that you may have got
it as well.
..........................
Dear friends..
I have been advised that I may have got a Virus in my PC via a friend. On
checking I find that I do indeed have a Virus. Said Virus is now neutralised!
Below are the details of how to locate the virus and neutralise.
Apologies for any inconvienience.
Cheers
Mike Whitby...
PLEASE READ IMMEDIATELY & ACTION AS APPROPRIATE
A Virus has been passed on to me by a contact. My address book has in turn
been infected. Since you are in my address book, there is a good chance you
will find it in your computer too. I followed the directions below and
eradicated the virus easily.
Sorry for the inconvience.
The Virus (called jdbgmgr.exe) is not detected by Norton or McAfee anti-virus
systems. The virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system.
It is sent automatically my messenger and by the address book, whether or not
you sent e-mails to your contacts.
Here is how to check for the virus and get rid of it.
YOU MUST DO THIS
1. Go to Start, Find or Search option.
2. In the file/folders option type the name: jdbgmgr.exe
3. Be sure you search your C: drive and all sub-folders and any other drives
you may have.
4. Click "find now"
5. The Virus has a 'teddy bear icon' with the name jdbgmgr.exe
DO NOT OPEN IT
6. Go to Edit (on the menu bar) choose select to highlight the file (DO not
double click on the teddy bear icon)
7. Now go to file (on the menu bar) and select Delete. It will then go to the
Recycle Bin.
8 Go to the Recycle bin and delete it there as well.
IF YOU FIND THE VIRUS YOY MUST CONTACT ALL THE PEOPLE IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK, SO
THEY CAN ERADICATE IT IN THEIR OWN ADDRESS BOOKS.
