medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear List members:
I am currently editing a 14th c. Middle English sermon that includes the following quotation: 'And therefore seith seynt Bernard, "Sanguis Christi clavus est paradisi". The blode of Crist is the key of paradys.' I have been unable to trace this quotation in the writings of St Bernard. Does anyone recognize this quotation? Is it indeed from St Bernard, or is it from another source?
Thank you for any help you may be able to offer.
