Sorry everyone: I obviously got up far too early today. When I said
primary, I meant secondary and when I said secondary I meant primary.

Thanks everyone for their inputs. Clearly the answer is primary but I
was initially thrown in that I assumed that when the question said I was
looking at my firm's original sales records, that I was the one who had
ordered, collected and organised the records.
In more general terms, the data must be secondary.

Easy - it's Primary, because you are working with
original non-published source data in order to derive
new information
then again it might be Secondary, because the data
already exists and you are looking at it afresh for a
new purpose.
