Dear everyone
I am reading a piece about the police, and need help with understanding the
following expressions:
1. Ozhegov gives the difference between Грабежи and разбои that the latter
is an armed version of the former. Is that right? Robbery and armed robbery?
And krazha is just theft?
2. What's the difference between дознаватели and следователи? Are there
English equivalents?
3. Is an опер short for operativny rabotnik? And is that another sort of
police investigator?
4. What’s административный, as in по административной статье and новый
Административный Кодекс, административная ответственность, в
административной практике? It seems to be opposed to уголовный, but it’s not
civil, is it? That’s гражданский, isn’t it?
5. What’s наряд, as a number of policemen, as in На каждый квартал по одному
наряду выставляется? The dictionary only gives it as “detail” in relation to
the army.
Many thanks in advance
Katie
