Thanks for the bibliography. I'll try, at least, to look at your
White Ladies. Most of the time when the Virgin appeared, at least
in the medieval examples I have run across, she seems to have taken
the form of a rather ill-defined light that filled a church or
appeared in the countryside.

I agree wholeheartedly with you. As I said, I don't think Saillens
is completely up-to-date.
