It's a great sadness that we must announce the passing of Dr. Henry Enns.
Henry was instrumental in the founding of Disabled Peoples' International in
1980 and served as President and Executive Director of the organization.
Henry's vision, determination and dedication assisted the organization take
it's place on the world stage and assisted in making significant
contributions to the quality of the lives of persons with disabilities.
In accordance with Henry's and the Enns family's wishes the following
arrangements have been made to honor and celebrate Henry's life and
achievements.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at 1:30 pm. at
the Steinbach Mennonite Church located at 345 Loewen Blvd., Steinbach,
Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that a donation in Henry's
memory de made to:

Dear All DPI Friends;
It is great loss and sorrow to inform to all of you that Dr. Henry Enns has
passed away [caused by heart attack, unofficially] since Monday during his
mission in Sri Lanka in the preparation for ADB Regional Workshop on Disability
to be held in Manila in October 2-4, 2002. The Regional Office here in Thailand
being hounred to welcome him and his wife on Friday 2 October. Dr. Enns is one
among the leaders when DPI was established in 1981. He has been very
signifiucant resource person for disability movement by transfering his
experience and skill to the new generation, particularly his effort in resource
mobilization for DPI.
Please join our hand and our heart to express our collective heartfelt

It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the death of Dr. Henry Enns, Team
Leader for current ADB Disability Project. He passed away at the age of 59 on
13 August 2002 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He was accompanied by his wife Olga.
The demise of Dr. Henry Enns is a great loss to the development
community. His contributions to the disability cause are truly significant. A
great amount of progress in disability during the last decade was achieved,
thanks to Dr. Enns' dedicated, committed work. He was the Executive Director of
Canadian Centre for Disability Studies and Director of Disabled Peoples
International and had been a major figure contributing to both World Bank and
ADB's disability work.
