When I saw the header I was thinking of it from an altogether different
perspective of human rights,
That is to say the freedom to travel, take up residence, work, visit another
country. Notwithstanding some of the restrictions of air travel particularly
post Sept 11th and the fact that there are some rather nasty clauses in some
supposedly Ist world countries immigration laws. It would be interesting to
see what the United Nations perspective on this were in terms of human
rights.
For example air travel is the point at which the UK's legislation for access
to public transport ends because it enters the international domain. Ferries
too is another case in point and cross border rail travel
As for other restrictions there have been cases of peope refused visas for
medical treatment abroad not to mention the recent example I think on this
list of the impossibility of a psyciatric survivor travelling to a
conference in Canada because of unequal laws.
