medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Having just returned from a three month stint in a Nigerian monastery I can
assure the list that bean bread (or something like it) is alive and well and
providing a much needed (and affordable) protein source. The local name for
it in Edo State is Mai-mai. After eating large quantitites of it recently I
can fully subscribe to Chris's assertion that

> heavy and dense.
Its like chewing freshly made plaster which then lies at the bottom of your
stomach for the rest of the day
