The British Library/British Museum has an amazing collection of manuscripts
ranging from the Codex Sinaiaticus, one of the oldest New Testament
manuscripts to hand-written Beatles lyrics. There I've seen Joyce's
hand-written drafts of Finnegans Wake, letters written by Elizabeth I,
musical manuscripts written by Bach, and Henry VIII's psalter, with his
margin notes. Also, the Rosetta Stone is in the Museum, which you might
consider a manuscript of sorts.
