However, I have taught in a variety of schools - public, private and
international. Some of them have provide free lined paper to students, some
have not. My observation on students that have to buy their own paper is
that a. they take better care of the stuff and b. I did not waste time
handing the stuff out or having to go out the class to get more.
As I get older and crumblier I increasingly doubt the wisdom of whiteboard
and marker pens from the environment's point of view (and the school's
