"Standards of Living in the Later Middle Ages" (Christopher Dyer,
Cambridge, 1990, ISBN 0521 272157)
Boarding members of the LeStrange household in 1383 cost, on a daily scale:
The Lord 7d.
An esquire 4d.
A yeoman 3d.
A groom 1d.
Gascon wine was around 3-4d per gallon.
And (what better for this list?) a trowel, in ~1350 was 6d.
Whatever, £100 was a /lot/ of wine. I suspect some form of spun-up
aristo-insurance job. :-)
